Hypnotherapy can be used to treat a wide range of issues and ailments including: anxiety, depression, bad habits, pain and discomfort, enhancing athletic or academic performance, and psychological disorders.

There are widespread misconceptions about hypnosis and hypnotherapy, mostly based on stage hypnotism and sensationalistic TV shows. Hypnotherapy utilises a natural state of relaxation, imagination, and focused attention. This is sometimes called 'trance'. You remain in control and can end the process at any time. How the session proceeds is up to you.

Hypnotherapy is not a magic bullet. A hypnotherapist cannot reach into your mind, flip a switch and miraculously solve all of your problems. For therapy to be effective you need to genuinely want to change and be willing to put in the necessary effort. Therapy is about empowering you outside of the session, not simply fixing you during it.

The term 'Hypno-psychotherapy' indicates that hypnotherapy can be part of a wider, deeper psychological process. Sometimes, although not always, the things we suffer from are symptoms of a deeper underlying problem. However, you always maintain the choice about how deep you want to go.

If you are uncomfortable with the idea of hypnosis, or if it does not suit your particular needs, then there are many other methods we can use. First and foremost is simply being given the time and space to talk in a safe and confidential environment. Other methods include: mindfulness, visualisation, and relaxation, but without the hypnotic induction.

Go on, follow your white rabbit...
"Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?"
